'Docking Station' app: Delve into contemporary art interactively
For the 'Docking Station' Exhibition, the Aargauer Kunsthaus is launching its first app that takes visitors through the exhibition using a multimedia guide. This replaces the usual exhibition catalogue with information on the works of art. The app was developed with the help of the app builder "Tour App Maker".
Project Description
In ten rooms on the top floor of the Aargauer Kunsthaus, contemporary artists reinterpret historic works from the collection of the Aargauer Kunsthaus and the Nationale Suisse insurance company. A free app is available to visitors in English and German as a multimedia tour for the iPhone and Android devices. It contains background information on selected works from the collection and a wealth of image, text and video material on the projects realised here. If you don't have your own smartphone, you can borrow a device from reception for the tour. For this exhibition, the organisers consciously decided against a printed catalogue with information on the works of art.
Simple app development with the app builder "Tour App Maker"
The 'Docking Station' app was implemented using the app builder Tour App Maker by Audiotours GmbH. With this web-based content management system, app content can be recorded and modified in a time-saving and cost-efficient manner. Customers enter the content themselves via an entry field and the content is then edited, organised and updated. Enhancing the app, be it with new content in an identical structure or an entirely new application, is easy at any time.
